Oookaay, That's weird.

So here I am, puttering around with my GJ. Just putting up old fics, no big deal.

And then I get fb on one from a total stranger, telling me all about these nifty books that s/he is sure I'm dying to buy.

Uh, NO. Spam fb? WTF????

eek. Reminds me of the time someone gave me a feedback comment that said "Hi Aina, I like your stories and your site. I can feel the light of Jesus within you. Have you ever thought about joining..." And then proceeded to preach to me about some Protestant community and forum group, and told me to let her know my address and phone number, and she would tell me where my closest churches are.

I told her that I don't believe in Jesus (which is true) and I write about hobbits because I think Frodo is satan.

She didn't bother me again :D

Bwahaha! OK, let's see, that makes Sam....

No, the brain is refusing to process that one.

Yeah, That would definitely be scarier.

I just went and had a look at it. How very odd. Out of all the people who have GJs, how on earth did he home in on you? And presumably others as well. He's nothing if not dedicated to promoting his books, because dropping random comments on GJ would be time consuming.

An author pal had a comment from another author that barely referenced the tale posted, but instead invited lengthy critique on her own lengthy tales. And I had a comment that had nothing to do with the tale, but went on at length (again) about the commenter. Go figure. But the sales pitch and the proselytizing are even creepier.

Wish the *nice* lurkers would come out of the woodwork!

[identity profile] elderberrywine.livejournal.com 2005-02-22 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely! I'm giving him a day to get my reply, and then deleting it. I certainly would feel horrible if it was really a legitimate lurker, but based on this:

Just taking a break (I write stuff) and surfin' journals...

Lots of reading... very interesting.

JPA

I don't think so. Hee. "Lots of reading", eh? Methinks he's saying tl;dr.
Hey, anytime, pal!

[identity profile] elderberrywine.livejournal.com 2005-02-22 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm suspicious that it's because I've been posting daily. Surely a lot of people do that on LJ, but I'm not so sure about GJ.

And I never put up interests, LJ or GJ, so, man. I dunno.

*is feeling special, but not in a good way*

[identity profile] notabluemaia.livejournal.com 2005-02-22 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah ~ that's a comment one can hardly do anything with, isn't it? Just doesn't *say* anything. (what's tl:dr?)

Remember Amadeus - 'too many notes' - is *that* what lots of reading means? Harumph. Consider the source!

*hugs*

[identity profile] elderberrywine.livejournal.com 2005-02-22 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. "Too long; didn't read."

Ah, Amadeus. Exactly.

*hugs back*

I've recieved three or four spam comments, one of them related tangentally to the post, but the others just spam. They were all related to unusual interests on my userinfo page, so I cleaned that up and they went away.

[identity profile] elderberrywine.livejournal.com 2005-02-23 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
See, OK, I could understand that, but I've never posted any interests, on either LJ or GJ, so I don't think it's that.

(And the books had nothing to do with LOTR, cause googling might bring up my site if he was looking for that. *is totally obsessed*)
